Governor Joe Lombardo has lent his support to the new baseball stadium plans propositioned by the Oakland Athletics team, which would be built near Tropicana Boulevard and Interstate 15 in Las Vegas.

The 100-acre site would be purchased from Red Rock Resorts before being transformed into a 35,000-seat stadium with a retractable roof.

Red Rock Resorts had previously begun construction work on the land in the late 2000s, but this has since stopped.

Lombardo said: “Welcoming the A’s to Las Vegas would be great news for Southern Nevada as well as our entire state.

“The prospect of bringing new jobs, more economic development and a historic MLB franchise to Las Vegas is exciting on many levels.

“As we continue to navigate this opportunity, I’m in regular communication with the A’s, Major League Baseball, legislative leadership and local and state stakeholders.”

A bill would need to be passed through the Clark County system to address the funding mechanism in order for the plans to succeed.

This includes a special taxation district to be created for the stadium site,Online Casino Games which would allow any sales taxes to be reinvested into the area.

A further amount of approximately $500m transferable tax credits would also be considered.

Greg Lademann, a spokesman for State Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro, said: "Senator Cannizzaro has been briefed on the outline of a proposal, and she appreciates the interest the A's have shown in Las Vegas.

"However, she has not committed to supporting any deal, nor would she without seeing detailed legislative language and discussing it with her caucus."

This announcement comes after Nevada reported a $1.27bn revenue for January 2023.
